The Art Therapy Process
Art Therapy
Art Therapy combines visual arts and therapy. It has been successful in improving mental health, treating physiological distress and supporting physical and emotional well being.
You do not need to be an artist to engage in art therapy, only an interest in playing and exploring with creative materials. In Art Therapy the emphasis is on the art making process and less on the finished product.
Art Therapy Sessions
Valhalla Art Therapy Studio supports children, teens and young adults. Individuals aged 5-25 years old.
Ideally, Art Therapy sessions are 1 hour per week for several weeks, depending on the service goals. Sessions may also be attended weekly, bi weekly or monthly.
Initial 15 min phone consultations are free. Sessions are $135.00 (plus %5 GST) per session which includes the cost of high quality studio materials.
Please note: I require 24 hours notice for cancelations otherwise subject to a missed session fee.
As a registered Canadian Art Therapist (CATA) and a registered Therapeutic Counselor (RTC) coverage by extended health benefits may apply.
I am registered with MCFD Autism Funding, EBUS Academy and Self Design High as an approved service provider.
Art Materials
Art materials are essential to the Art Therapy process. Valhalla Art Therapy provides a plethora of art materials which include; drawing, paint, collage, clay, textiles, sand tray, crafts, up-cycled materials and natural materials.
At Valhalla Art Therapy, offering the client a selection of art materials to choose from allows for their creative expression to come through. This also enables language and metaphors to emerge out of the art mediums which is essential to the therapeutic process.
